Julie Brown was a well known voodoo priestess who lived in the small community of Frenier Louisiana inside the Manchac swamp around the turn of the century. While Julie Brown was respected by many as a "healer" she became a little more sinister in her later years. Brown allegedly placed a curse on the town and would sit on her porch singing a sinister song "One day I will die soon and take the whole town with me."
After her death and on the day of her burial in 1915 a large hurricane tore through the town of Frenier and ultimately 275 people were killed essentially wiping the town of Frenier off the map.
